Foxwoods Casino is the largest gambling venue in the United States and is highly regarded by American gamblers. The 32,000 square foot casino was opened in 1986 by the Native Pequot tribesmen of the Mashantucket Reservation. Even the famous Las Vegas cannot boast of such a scale.

Casino history

The beginnings of the Foxwoods gambling complex in Ledyard Connecticut began with the opening of a small high stakes bingo room. The main investor in this venture was Lim Goh Tong, a Malaysian businessman of Chinese origin. The demand for the gambling hall encouraged its rapid expansion to the size of a medium-sized casino. The advent of the nineties saw the addition of slot machines and table games to the list of services. In 1996, the establishment reached its modern format and held a monopoly on gambling in the region for an extended period. When developing the casino concept, the creators opted for an authentic design with an oriental aesthetic in mind. This has sparked genuine interest among gambling enthusiasts who wish to embrace the traditions of Native American gambling. Foxwoods now holds the record for being the most popular of all Native American gambling houses.

Hotel and casino overview

The Foxwoods Hotel has over 2,000 rooms and offers a spectacular city view. The management caters to the desires and needs of all guests without exception, providing rooms for smokers and non-smokers, families and singles, who prefer modest or luxurious interiors. Amongst the many catering establishments, the grill bar, the Hard Rock Cafe, the fast food Subway and several premium restaurants are in particular demand. A visit to the Pequot Tribal Museum is a good way to learn about the indigenous Indian culture.

The renowned American casino offers more than 5,500 video slots and 280 tables for traditional and rare games. Card games include poker, baccarat and blackjack.
