The prototype of the hotel is a delightful village set in the picturesque landscape of the Italian region of Como. History
The construction of the world-famous complex had to wipe out the Dune gambling house and lasted five years, from 1993 to 1998. The opening celebrations cost 88 million Euros. In its early years Bellagio was the most expensive gambling house not only in the US but in the world.
After Steve Wynn’s company merged with the MGM holding company in 2000, the establishment had a change in management. In 2015, a spectacular robbery occurred in which the perpetrator managed to abscond with 1.5 million euros. It was only a year later that the police managed to locate and punish the culprit. Since then, Bellagio has beefed up security and increased the number of employees to 8,000.
